Would you like to get involved?

We are looking for volunteers who are able to share their time and skills with us. We would welcome volunteers to help us plan and run our events, promote and grow our Can’t Wait Scheme and contribute to our social media. We are also looking for a volunteer to write our monthly newsletter. We are very open to ideas and want to be able to put your skills and experience to good use!

Volunteer Roles

Below are the current roles we have available, if you are interested in any of these, please email info@sgden.org.uk.

Events Volunteer
We run two events every year and would love some support in making these happen. We are looking for someone who is interested in assisting with the organisation of our fully accessible events. This role would involve coming up with accessible event ideas, finding speakers, publicising the events with our team and helping run the events.

Can’t Wait Volunteer
We are looking for a volunteer to speak to local businesses to gain their support in our Can’t Wait scheme. We would also like someone to gather feedback from the current users of the scheme and see if there is anything we can do to improve it and make public places even more accessible.

Social Media Volunteer
We are looking to grow our presence on social media, and would love some support with managing our social media profiles and updating them regularly. It is important for us to share the work of other disabled creators, whilst publicising our events and resources in the local area.

Newsletter Volunteer
Our monthly newsletter is sent out to many people in the area, and we would love someone to write this for us each month. We compile useful resources, local accessible events and relevant news for the disabled community in South Gloucestershire.

Community Members

We are also looking for committed and enthusiastic Community Members, particularly at the moment someone with a background in fundraising, who are able to use their professional experience and knowledge and/or experience of disabilities to help guide our organisation.

We will be registering as a charity, so this position will at some point become that of a Trustee – to find out more about the responsibilities of being a Trustee, have a look at this excellent guide – The Essential Trustee.  The role profile for this position is available here.
